Spirometry

Spirometry is a simple breathing test that measures how much air you can inhale and exhale, and how quickly. It helps our clinical team evaluate lung function as part of ongoing care for chronic respiratory conditions and to better understand symptoms like shortness of breath, wheezing, or a persistent cough.

What the Test Involves

During spirometry, you breathe into a mouthpiece connected to a monitoring device. The test is quick, non-invasive, and performed right in our office, so results can be reviewed as part of the same visit.

How It Fits Into Your Care

  • Chronic Disease Management — Lung function results help guide ongoing management of conditions such as asthma or COPD.
  • Pulse Oximetry — Oxygen saturation checks are often used alongside spirometry to give a fuller picture of respiratory health.
  • Sick Visits — Spirometry may be used to help evaluate breathing symptoms during a same-day visit.

Getting Started

If you have a history of respiratory concerns or new breathing symptoms, our team can discuss whether spirometry is appropriate for your situation and how it fits into your overall care plan.
